Resolving the 'All required IIS roles are not installed' error when running the PortalGuard MSI


Launching the PortalGuard MSI and clicking 'Next' on the Welcome dialog results in the following error message:

Ensure that the required IIS Roles are installed and/or run the MSI from an elevated CMD.

  1. On the server where you want to install PortalGuard, open the Server Manager.
  2. Either click on the link to 'Add roles and features' from the Dashboard view, or navigate to 'Manage' -> 'Add Roles and Features'.

  3. Click 'Next' until you get to the 'Server Roles' page.
  4. Expand 'Web Server (IIS) and ensure the following roles are all installed:
    • Required IIS Roles - List
    • Under 'IIS 6 Management Compatibility' you do NOT need to install the IIS 6 Management Console
  5. Finish the installation for any additional roles that were not already installed.
  6. Try the Install again. 
  7. If the error persists, run Command Prompt as an Administrator.
  8. Use the built-in 'cd' command to change directory to the folder containing the PortalGuard MSI.
    • i.e. cd C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\PortalGuard_v6.0.0.4
  9. Type in "PortalGuard (64-bit).msi" with the quotation marks, and hit Enter to run the MSI as an administrator.
  10. Finalize the PortalGuard installation as needed.
